The best smartphones under 300 euros – jump directly to:

Nokia 8.1

Nokia is back in the smartphone game. Thanks mainly to Android One, Nokia phones are gaining in importance again. What I really love about the Nokia smartphones I use is how clean and fast the software is. Android One delivers the purest Android experience and guaranteed fast updates. Nokia has already introduced Android 9 Pie on all its phones. The best for less than 300 euros is the Nokia 8.1.

The Nokia 8.1 is very well made and feels like a premium device when you pick it up. The display is 6.18 inches tall and looks fantastic. The SoC is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, supported by 4 GB of RAM. That’s more than enough power for the lean software. There are some cool tricks in the camera app, and the quality is good, thanks to Nokia’s collaboration with Carl Zeiss. The Nokia 8.1 is available in offers for almost 300 euros, sometimes it costs a few euros more – but they are worth it!

Samsung Galaxy A50

The Galaxy S10, S10 +, and Note 10 are catching Samsung’s attention this year, but the popular Korean manufacturer also offers a range of other devices at lower prices. In every generation, further high-tech features of the high-quality S series seep into the lower price range. The Galaxy A50 is Samsung’s most complete offer for under 300 euros.

The A50 has a classic Samsung style.

With an Exynos 9610 processor and 4 or 6 GB of RAM, the Galaxy A50 can keep up (although Samsung phones are still not that bad fast). The Galaxy A50 is perfect for videos and photos thanks to a really nice 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display.

The camera is also good for the price. It includes a triple-camera setup with a 25-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The selfie camera also has 25 megapixels. 128 GB of internal memory can be expanded via microSD, the battery with 4,000 mAh is not interchangeable.

Honor 8X

A smartphone with a huge 6.5-inch screen, solid performance and a flagship-style all-glass construction for around 200 euros? Honor has made it possible: The 8X covers all important tasks from excellent and leaves a good impression. The Honor 8X has an excellent price-performance ratio.

The Honor 8X features a contemporary design with a display covering the entire front of the smartphone, glass on the front and back, and a dual main camera. The Kirin 710 Octa-Core processor powers the smartphone, powered by either 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of expandable internal memory. The Honor 8X comes with a 3,750 mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo, but you can immediately update the update to EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie as soon as you take it out of the box.

Motorola Moto G7

Motorola’s extensive Moto G7 line has plenty to offer buyers looking for a solid Android phone for under $ 300. Motorola uses one of the cleanest Android interfaces, so if you’re looking for a pure Android feel, this is a good choice. What Motorola adds to Android is also cool, such as gestures to open the camera app with a snap or turn on the flashlight. There are four different phones in the G7 line: Moto G7, G7 Play, G7 Power and G7 Plus. They are all under 300 euros, the Moto G7 Plus offers the best overall package.

Motorola Moto G7 Plus in the test

The Moto G7 Power has a huge 5,000 mAh battery inside. The big advantage of the Moto G7 Power over the Moto G7 is, as the name implies, the battery life. The G7 Power has a huge 5,000 mAh battery, while in the normal G7 you’ll have to settle for just 3,000 mAh. You are spoiled for choice!

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE

Xiaomi is one of the companies that offers great smartphones at very aggressive prices. The Chinese brand has focused its entire business on undercutting the big manufacturers and making great achievements not only in Asia but also in Europe. You have to let them, the phones are great for the money. The best for – depending on the offer – around 300 euros is the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE.

A lot of phone for the money and a real flagship camera. The Mi 9 SE is a slimmed-down version of the flagship Mi 9 but does not think you’ll miss it here. It features a 5.97-inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 712 processor with 6 GB of RAM and Android 9 Pie with Xiaomi’s MIUI-10 interface. You also get a fantastic triple camera with Sony’s now-famous 48-megapixel main sensor, as well as an 8-megapixel telephoto lens and a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera. It sorts a small piece under 300 euros.
